How to Check Admission Requirements

Every university and programme has its own admission requirements. The good news is that you don't have to guess. This guide shows you how to find the right information, organise it, and avoid common mistakes before you apply.
Use this page to check the requirements for one specific application at a time.Do not combine information from different universities, programmes or admission rounds. Your goal is to create one clear overview showing what applies, where the information came from and what still needs confirmation.

Your action:
Before you begin, choose one exact university, programme, study level, applicant category and intake.

Step 1 — Identify the Exact Application

Write down the details of the application you are checking.
These details help you avoid using information that applies to another programme or group of applicants.

Your action:
Save these details at the top of your notes. Check that every source you use relates to the same application.

Step 2 — Find the Current Official Sources

Begin with the university’s own website. Look for the international admissions section and the application guide for the correct intake.
You may need information from more than one official page.

International admission guide

This is usually the most important source.
It may contain applicant definitions, academic requirements, language requirements, required documents, deadlines and submission instructions.

Programme or department page

Check whether the programme has additional conditions that do not appear on the general international admissions page.
These may include subject prerequisites, interviews, portfolios, auditions or graduate research requirements.

Scholarship or exchange instructions, if relevant

A scholarship, exchange agreement or partner nomination may have its own eligibility rules, documents and deadlines.
Do not assume that the normal university application instructions are identical.

Your action:
• Open the current admission guide and the exact programme page in separate tabs.
• Save the links and check that both relate to the same university, programme, and intake.
• If a scholarship or exchange route applies to you, save those instructions separately.
• Do not use an older guide when a current version is available..

Step 3 — Record the Requirements You Find

Record every requirement you find in one clear overview.
Keep each requirement separate and always note the official source.

What do you still need to check, prepare or ask?

Repeat this for every requirement that applies to the application you are checking.

Step 4 — Check for Gaps or Conflicts

Compare the information from the admission guide, programme page and any separate scholarship or exchange instructions.
Mark a requirement as unclear when information is missing, worded differently in two official sources or only available for an older intake.
Do not guess which version applies.

Your action:
Create one short list of everything that still needs official confirmation.

Step 5 — Complete Your Admission Check

Your check is complete when you have:

You do not need to solve every unclear point immediately. You do need to know exactly what still needs to be confirmed.

What to Do Next

Use What Documents May Be Needed to turn the confirmed requirements into a document preparation list.
Use Questions to Ask a University Before Applying when official information is incomplete, unclear or contradictory.
